Artemis Crock: Who knows what I will become.

After a fair amount of time that Artemis just takes down petty thugs in Gotham, one night she does come across Wally West, Dick Grayson, and Superboy fighting Amazo, one of Dr. Ivo's inventions. She begins by just spying out the situation and even making some off kilter comments about Conner, before she becomes attacked by Ivo's other inventions, M.O.N.Q.I.

After fighting these robots, during most of the duration of The Teams fight with Amazo, in this fight she also showcases she not only carries a bow but also a hand crossbow, she fires an arrow at Amazo as Wally is being crushed saving his life. From Artemis' perception after the fight is finished, she longs to be on the team, but she starts to believe her father thinking that she would never be able to join because of her families criminal record. However, Robin takes the arrow she fired thinking it was Green Arrow following them. After giving the arrow to Oliver, so Bruce and Oliver decide to look into this newcomer.

Soon after this whole deal with Amazo, after a particularly slow night, Artemis returns home to find Green Arrow and Batman talking to her mother. Thinking that her mother got into trouble again, she immediately flies into a rage already being frustrated by her own perceived inadequacy. Oliver and Bruce then reveal to her that she is offered a spot on the team. After making a deal that she will join only if they do not reveal her true identity and Oliver comes up with the idea to say that she is his niece, she readily joins the team.

This concludes the story at the moment. Just the major character bits to discuss in these scenes show Artemis' insecurity and her drive to change the course of her family name; wanting to be treated as her own individual not being judged by her families decisions. I always liked that Paula Crock knew from the beginning that her daughter was doing these things, eliminating that annoying piece about most superheroes trying to hide what they do with poorly done excuses making unneeded melodrama. Even Oliver and Bruce understand her desire to keep her identity secret, since both are one of the few members of the League that still have secret identities, it just works with those characterizations and their personal convictions of the life they live.

That's all for today, make sure to check back for more analysis coming soon.
