"From where I come from, that's how you survive."

Once this mission begins, we are introduced to something that will be a major part of this covert ops team, mental link communication. This makes sense as this team is very low key and trying to stay in the shadows as long as they can; leaving the Justice League to take on the larger or obvious threats. While it makes sense to have this factor for the team for practical reasons, it does make for some good comedy this episode. Well, onto the scene itself; Artemis and Wally make a point to say that it is weird for the whole team to hear their thoughts. After the doctor complains that she has to hear "teen think in my skull", Wally makes some wise crack about her complaining that others are saving her, and just with Artemis' response of "Pot, kettle, have you met?" you can see that she is the only one outside of Dick that is willing to stand up to Wally with her own form of humor. Then in a way to regain his pride he tries to claim that she forced Roy to leave, which Artemis response is the obvious is that is not her fault; and from what we know of her story chronologically she doesn't want something else to be put on her, and no one, especially not someone who is on the team she wanted to be on, is going to force more guilt on her immediately.

So in the way of not making things worse at the moment between the two, she offers to help Me'gan. What follows is a somewhat out of character tone we get from Kaldur sounding very ticked that she is on the team. Maybe he is a little sore in the fact that he does not want to accept the reason that he knows that Roy would have rejected a spot on the team, regardless of if Artemis had joined either way. Thankfully before the scene ends, Dick seems to be her only defender at this point, understanding that she is new, she tells both of them lighten up; while also reminding Wally that her arrow saved him from Amazo. Why Dick defends her, we are not exactly told. We can infer from later on that he might know that she is from Gotham and from a criminal family tree even at this point, but we do not know this for sure. Maybe he could just respect her at this point as the only other person outside of himself who does not have powers; so it could be he relates to her or at least respects her enough that she has the courage to take on this life. Wally accepting this is still being stubborn of not cutting her any slack, to which Artemis responds with saying that she can hear him as this whole scene has gone through the psychic link.

The next scene Artemis is a part of is her with Me'gan as Superboy is there and Artemis makes a what could be considered inappropriate comment about Superboy. He doesn't say a word and leaves, Me'gan essentially reminding Artemis that he could hear her and she responds with "Oh, I know". Yes, even here you can see that Artemis seems to be trying to rub every member of the team the wrong way, obviously Artemis doesn't know that Me'gan likes Conner (he doesn't even know himself, she is just essentially making awkward stares at him at this point); Artemis is just stating that she has had to grow up with tension between anyone she cares about to survive.

That's all for today, guys. Thanks as always for reading. Hope you are enjoying this blog as much I am enjoying creating it.
