So after the last post I realized that I had skipped over the comic tie-in two-part Captain Atom investigation story before going into 'Denial'. So I shall contain both comic parts in this blog as in both there is not much panel time given to Artemis in dialogue or presence; though in part she along with Superboy are the main members affected because of the events that transpire. Now onto the story.

In the intro of 'Cold Case', Captain Atom is giving the team some details about a mission they are being given, with what one could consider irrelevant details about being covert, at least to this team. The mission is about a 1968 murder case during the Vietnam War. The goal is two-fold, either prove that Nathaniel Adams was innocent or reconfirm his guilt. Superboy does question why you need super powered operatives for this mission, but Captain Atom says it is either this or continuing the lecture, to which the team gives a resounding no to the lecture.

The team is split up into three groups to investigate: Robin and Ms. Martian disguise themselves to question General Wade Eiling, as he was the person set to judge over the prosecution of Nathaniel Adams. Superboy and Wally are sent to a few of Adam's friends and fellow soldiers to give their opinion of his character. Meanwhile, Kaldur and Artemis are sent to question his children to get an opinion of those who were not born at the time, but were essentially raised by Wade Eiling.

After Adam's children are questioned, as the daughter is more open to the possibility of her fathers innocence than his son is willing to give, Kaldur and Artemis for a walk on the beach to reflect. Given Artemis' history of her parents we are aware of at this time, she is willing to accept that Adams is guilty and even is somewhat sympathetic to his son; as stated previously she is largely unwilling to trust males, especially father figures. While Kaldur is staring into the ocean thinking of Tula(though not given in dialogue, thankfully), Artemis obviously would not know what his thoughts are as she thinks he is considering his own parents. Maybe at this point she is willing to believe that his parents were just as bad as her own, so she may be willing to be a shoulder to be a shoulder to cry on, what I personally get from her expressions. Kaldur, instead to give her a history of his parents; going into the fact that his mother is Atlantean while his father was a surface dweller who used to work for Black Manta giving him the ability to breath underwater. He continues to explain that his father left Black Manta's service because he wanted marry Kaldur's mother, We get this look from Artemis which one could interpret as maybe her mother was not a criminal before she met Artemis' father. What is more likely is that, we know that Artemis' father refused the opportunity to give up his criminal life after her mother is released from prison.

That being said, the next time we see Artemis is when the team comes together in a diner to compare notes, Given the fact that they have to be covert, they use Me'gan's psychic link so they can communicate and use their phones to give visuals of what they are saying. What ends up after a series of events of assassinations of people who could be essential links to tie the notes together; they discover that a friend of Adams' was behind the murder, though in the way of a puppet master. We learn that he was a part of a weapons smuggling ring which was headed up by a commanding officer. They thought Adams was on their trail, so they decided to create a complex series of events so that he took the blame for all involved with the ring. While the team eventually stops all involved who were still alive, but not before the leader Henry Yarrow dies, though Me'gan draws the information necessary to clear up the case.

Once the information is relayed to Captain Atom, Artemis makes the comment that although they accomplished the mission she considers it too late for Adams. Though Atom states that it is not too late for Adams' children to get the real story of who their father was truly. We get a scene of Captain Atom and Eiling in a car; which reveals that Captain Atom is Nathaniel Adams. Whether the team learns of this, we are not told, but one could assume they would eventually. Though we do not finish the story before we learn that Eiling became the leader of the ring after the previous leader was killed, and was also the one behind the murders of the people who could piece together Eiling and the ring.

That's all guys. Again, sorry if you are reading this out of order. I shall strive to not make this mistake in the future. Hope this was entertaining nonetheless. Next time we shall discuss 'Downtime'.
