"Do not force me to do this again".

During the trilogy of comics of this universe's version of Clayface, Artemis is forced to perform a mission in which it hits far too close to home for her. Although this is a story that is three parts in length, Artemis is in a total of five pages in this entire storyline. As she is completely apart from the rest of the team, one could also say that it is the mission Artemis is the most uncomfortable with, particularly early on as she is forced to be imprisoned.

The story from Artemis' perspective begins after the death of Kent Nelson. After a great many heroes from the Justice Society and the League appear to show respect for their fallen friend. Most of these people from the 'Justice Society' are not shown in the series outside of the Red Tornado flashback in 'Humanity'. Once most of the heroes have left, Oliver tells Artemis that she is being put under arrest.

Artemis is placed in the same prison that holds Icicle Jr. who is still waiting for his trial for his criminal act made during 'Independence Day'. It takes only a moment or two for both to recognize each other, as it is shown that both Artemis' and Cameron's fathers knew each other very well in days past; which as we will see later, may not have been as long as both suspected.

What Artemis reports to Oliver after she is released from prison is that Cameron wanted to be tried as an adult so he could be sent to Belle Reve, he encourages Artemis to do the same, which she considers to be crazy. What appears to be the reason for putting Artemis through this is that both Oliver and Bruce suspected something was suspicious about four ice villians committing crimes almost simultaneously. So, as far as they show, this is the only time anyone takes advantage of Artemis' bloodlines. The reason that is believed for that being the only time, is because Artemis is understandably angry about this, and tells Oliver to not put her in that kind of situation again.

That is all for this post. Very short, but there is not nearly as much to dissect in something like 'Downtime', character or story wise. But in all fairness, not everything needs to have that kind of meat. It still gives a set up for a later episode. Even the funeral scene for Kent is something that is appreciated. You do not need it in the series, but for the comics, funerals are rarely seen in this show so it nice to see in some form in this universe. Next time, I shall begin to dive into another multi-part blog episode 'Bereft'.
