As Artemis and Robin recover; Artemis starts to freak out again and Dick tries to calm her down. Artemis asks how her can be so calm in this dire situation, to which Dick says that he has been doing this since he was nine. Robin gets the idea of starting an electronic pulse after Artemis says the only thing they could do to beat these androids is to have a giant magnet. What is nice during the scene following is that Wally does get to show off some of his scientific prowess while he is talking Dick through what materials are needed. After obtaining the materials, Dick heads off to the main power core and tries to plant the pulse igniter, however, the female android(later revealed to be the golden age character 'Firebrand') finds him and makes Artemis misfire her last arrow. Before Artemis leaves, she does see Dick being drowned by the android(again later to be revealed as Red Torpedo) who controls water. Because of this, Artemis has a few brief moments of a complete emotional breakdown.
After Artemis recollects herself, slightly, she tries to think what she might be able to do to escape; thinking maybe she could find some way to contact the League, but before she can even finish the thought, she falls through the pipes and ends up in Wally's souvenir room. As she stares at Cheshire's mask, we continue the flashback. What ends up happening is that Jade leaves but some could notice with facial expressions that she does not really want to leave Artemis with her dad; but Artemis shoots her down as she wants to be here when their mom gets back. After Artemis defends her position, we get the line that defines Jade as a character(at least in this season) in which she says, "In this family, it's every girl for herself". If anyone could not tell before, this is scene where most people could really see why Artemis trusts very few people. But the amount of growth for this character is that has only been in about six episodes is shown in the lines which roughly translate that while she still doesn't trust her family, she has finally found a family that is worth trusting.
Artemis turns herself in, after she takes the arrow that Wally saved from the time that she saved him from 'Amazo' . After making a shot that would put 'Robin Hood' to shame, that hits the device to trigger the pulse, she checks on Robin. The look she gives is almost one on the verge of tears, until he wakes up with some lines that fit his character, as he wakes up with a jokey line. In a way that says everything about Dick in season one; although he would be in deadly situations constantly, he would still find some way to lift the teams spirit with some sort of humor to keep them from going crazy. However, it is not long before 'Red Tornado' returns and tries to understand what happened; until the pulse wears off as he states "I am not aware I had sibling". Some sort of transfer occurs and Red Tornado starts sucking the air from the room, leaving the team unconscious. The League shows up eventually, and Dick reveals that all three of the Reds have disappeared.
That ends this mini-series of blogs for 'Home Front'. Hope you guys enjoyed this, sorry this last part was a little longer than the others, but I wanted to finish this without sacrificing any detail of character. Next time will be a discussion of 'Alpha Male'. I have no idea if anyone will be watching these in between the time of these blog intervals, but of course you are more than welcome to do that if you wish. Thanks for reading this guys.
