"I've Got Nothing to Prove. I'm One of a Kind".

Given the fact that 'Insecurity' is three episodes after 'Coldhearted', it is a while before we see Artemis in the series overall again. One could assume that Artemis has been training with Oliver since that time; given the opening scene of this episode. No one is quite sure though. Not too much to say about the opening with Artemis and Oliver taking down 'Black Spider', who is trying to kill the father of who will become 'Arrowette' in the Young Justice comic run by Marv Wolfman. The only thing to mention is that there is a sense that Artemis is starting to feel comfortable with being Oliver's protege.
Once Artemis returns home, we get something that is not shown in comic book history very often(particularly teenage heroes), telling her mom about the excitement and joy she gets from saving people. Another rarity is that Paula shares that joy with her, instead of stating how much she worries about her(heck you could say that about most superhero relationships in general). The night seems to be going well until Paula mentions that Bruce and Oliver came to her before giving the offer for Artemis to join the team. Artemis, thinking all this time that she was invited to join because of her rescue of Wally against Amazo, is understandably upset. Paula's point is made understandable as well, considering that all of her family(including she herself) have become criminals; and wanted to make sure that her only daughter left did not do anything while she was in prison. Artemis reaction is equally understandable. In the fact that, along with teenage hormones alone, she has never been comfortable anywhere, not in: school, home, even the team for a long time.
As Artemis goes to meet the team, she takes a little time to reflect reassuring herself that she has proved herself to the team; even if they didn't bring her on for what she did. This shows the only way Artemis knows how to earn trust, likely due to her father's teachings especially; if want to earn respect, you have to work to death to take it from them. Given this mentality Artemis is in, the fact that she shows up and the first thing she is told is that Roy joined the team(after some coaxing from Oliver to join up before he joins the League). Showing her annoyance at this by throwing the line Wally said way back in 'Infiltrator', saying that 'It's about time the team got a real archer". Wally clearly catches the point as you can see a twinge of guilt on his face after she says this line.
Oliver mentions that Bruce and Dick are away in Gotham, so after a suggestion from Conner that having the whole team go after 'Sportmaster' would be overkill; Oliver suggest that they just make it a mission for the former sidekicks. Artemis volunteers, with the spoken reason that if Me'gan wasn't going, no one else has had more experience with the bioship. The real reasons she wants to go could be argued is equally two-fold: One is the obvious that she doesn't want Sportmaster to give away her family history. The other reason is reasonably clear that she wants to prove that she is worth her spot on this team.
That's all for this part guys. This one is dense, so this could end up being three possibly even four parts. Next part should come within a few days. This is one of, if not my favorite episode of the season for personal reasons, so I want to take my time with this episode. Until then, see you guys later and thanks for reading.
