"...We Should Have These Talks More Often".

Once Artemis follows the tracker she put on Cheshire's sword(in this abandoned Circus or Toy Store, somewhat reminiscent of 'Return of the Joker'), Jade quickly shows that she allowed Artemis to follow her once she throws the tracker at her feet. Jade shows a video feed where Crusher is about to nail Roy; just rubbing it in again that her team doesn't trust her. One could make an argument that Jade shows Artemis the feed so that she could save him from getting killed; though there could be an equal argument that Crusher told her to do this from something revealed later in the series.

After a brief skirmish between the four, Wally and Kaldur show up to bring back up, skeptical of how she and Roy got there since he and Kaldur were following a decoy. While Wally is fights Jade so Artemis can check out what's behind a door since they heard strange sounds. Artemis goes in to discover some major villians shown previously, including: Ivo, Klarion, and many more; only to see find that they disappear quickly, thanks to Klarion; including Cheshire and Sportsmaster.

Roy runs Artemis into the ground because she intended to put the rest of the team on a wild goose chase. Wally defends Artemis until Roy tells him that she wanted to take Jade and Sportsmaster to herself. Thinking that this has to do with her insecurity about Roy joining the team, he seems to be giving her the benefit of the doubt in words when he essentially asks her if it's true? Though his face and her reaction show they both know there is no point in denying it. This is something that has been done poorly in lesser shows, but this, I think, does it better; since we can see both sides of the argument or at least be sympathetic to either character; you know how a real and rational argument should be done. Roy whispers something in Artemis' ear just telling her that he is watching, just putting in another jab at her by saying, "Not by a long shot". Kaldur does defend Artemis' action by saying that if making a mistake were an act of betrayal, then they would all be traitors; giving the reason for the teams reaction near the end of the season.

Artemis returns home just wanting to sleep, but finds that her father(Sportsmaster) is there waiting for her to return. Crusher during this entire scene, in my opinion, is just the embodiment of Artemis' insecurity in this scene; which is nice as it is something that would just be done in a comic with thought balloons, so it's nice to see something else that is used for the medium. Crusher says that Artemis will never be one of them, because of who she is. The scene ends with Artemis giving this neutral reaction where she is certainly not saying she would run into her father's arms and become a part of his way of life; but she does admit to herself that he does have a point(at least in part) given the fact that the only one that has encouraged her since this whole mental episode began has seemed to turn his back on her, for now.

That's it for this trilogy of blogs for 'Insecurity'. Stay tuned for 'Performance' coming soon.
