"I'm Surprised We're Still Alive".

So, this is the last post for the first season of Young Justice. This will, likely, not be nearly as long as several episodes have, but what can I say, 'Auld Aquaintance' just is not Artemis heavy. This is, clearly, fine as last episode was the conclusion of Artemis' journey for the season. This episode serves to bridge the gap between season 1 and 2; at least for her character. Story-wise this is the most important episode as it shows how all(and I do mean all) the pieces fit in for the season and set up for the next. Let's not belabor the point any longer, let's check in with the original team one more time for Auld Aquaintance.

The episode begins with the team learning that Roy was the mole, told by Bruce. Not just that Roy was the mole, but the one: Dick, Wally, and Kaldur knew for years was a Cadmus clone and the potential that the 'real' Roy may be dead. This ,understandably, shakes the three former sidekicks as Artemis and Zatanna reach to comfort their perspective boyfriends, but realize that it's best to let them grieve.

Through a series of detective work from Dick and exposition from 'Red Tornado'; the team discovers that Vandal Savage and the group he formed that has been hinted at throughout the season('The Light') have found a way to control the Justice League. Once Kaldur picks up Roy, they find out that his programming is null now that his mission is complete. This will become important for the second season as Roy's journey in part is to find his own identity and discover a reason to live.

As the team finds a way to destroy the the Starotech(nice Justice League comic reference) used for the mind control, created by Dr. Roquette and Queen Mira, each member goes after their perspective mentors to clear the mind. Artemis wonders what the audience does, why they haven't been killed yet as their mentors are much better than them, Wally explains that they are only as powerful as the person controlling them.

The mission is successful, but they know that Savage and his team let them win after a certain point. Wally kisses Artemis and said he should have done it a long time ago, and Artemis agrees. The team rectifies with their mentors(mostly with Conner and Clark) and Roy explains that he's going to try to find the real Roy Harper. The season ends with Dick stating that six members of the Justice League(again a nice reference in that the members used are the cast of the original Justice League series from the DC Animated Universe) were unaccounted for sixteen hours under Savage's control.

So that is all for this season guys. A quick thank you for everyone that has stuck with me for these last six months starting this blog series. I'm hoping to finish Artemis' blog for the second season before the third season lands, but we'll see how that turns out. I know it's been a constantly changing format, particularly in those early posts, so it means a lot those of you that have been here from the beginning. Be back eventually for the second season of Young Justice for the continued journey of Artemis Crock.
