"What Have You Done?"

A very short blog this time, though I suppose we will see how short it actually becomes. Only two or three scenes to talk about with this one and Artemis is almost a cameo in the scenes she is in. Well, with that rousing introduction, how can one wait until we take a brief trip 'Before the Dawn'.

Artemis seems to be handling grunt work when we see her gathering the other runaways the Light has gifted to the Reach for genetic experimentation. While Tim and Barbara sneak into the cage with the other kids, we get a quick shot of Artemis telling the troops to get them ready and doesn't seem to mind that there are two people that were clearly not there before. Of course it's possible and likely that Kaldur told her that there would be at least members of the team in the pods; but that doesn't explain why the troopers don't make a big deal about a boy with shades at night. Though I suppose that's more telling of how passive the troopers are to Tigris, they don't question her as the Terror twins do.

The next time Artemis appears, Conner knocks her into the ceiling as he is disguised as a trooper. The fact that when Artemis makes a sizeable dent in the ceiling is telling of either two things. Either the density of the ship is not very strong at this time, as it can be changed once we see Black Beetle do it a little later on in the episode, or Artemis is considerably stronger than imagined. I say that last choice because while she goes down for a little while after she is hit, she seems a little slower but mostly fine after making a dent in the wall that Conner himself made in the 'Auld Aquaintance'. Of course we don't see Artemis much after that incident very much for a few episodes afterward, so one could make the theory that she was recovering during that time, but that may be stretching.

Once Black Beetle traps the captive teenagers and team members inside with the rescue team, we see Artemis trying to make her way towards the door but just barely misses it. Not sure what Artemis would do if she could get in there; maybe she would've found a way to get the team out or she could've just played the part as she will in 'The Fix'.

After not getting to the team in time, she decides to go after Kaldur only to discover that Me'gan lobotomized him. Once Me'gan realizes Artemis is alive and what Kaldur's whole plan is, it is far too late and feels guilty about it. This is the major character change for Me'gan this season, but that's a blog for another time. Artemis asks Me'gan mentally what she did? There is no reason to believe Artemis would know what Me'gan could do with her mental prowess as it seems she took that up pretty recently; or at least comfortable with doing this more often as we know that she did the same thing to Psimon in 'Image'. The final thing Artemis does in this episode is that she takes Kaldur back to Manta, and will continue to stay on that ship for several weeks.

That's for this one guys. Like I said before, not too much character bits this episode, but enough story development to justify this post. It might be a little longer till the next blog, which will likely be multi-part with 'The Fix'. Until then, thanks for reading.
