"Do You Think it Will be Enough?"

Welcome back to the second part of my blog of 'Endgame'. Debatable which part has more meat in it, this part or the one following; both have plenty of material to analyze so let's get down into it shall we.

Once Artemis and Wally come back to the Watchtower, they discover, along with the rest of the teams, that one more machine remains in the Arctic. This last one was not noticed because of the magnetic pulse being disguised in conditions unique to that area of the world. Barry and Bart go immediately as they are the only ones who could make it in time. Unfortunately they both arrive too late as the process begins.

Lex tells Barry that it may be able to be stopped with enough counter velocity. Despite the fact that both Barry and Bart are at their top speeds Artemis questions whether it will be enough. The words are not completely out of her mouth before Wally gets the urge to go. Somewhat mirroring what happened in 'Bloodlines', where he and Jay had to go carry Barry and Bart to safety from Neutron's radiation blast.

Wally joins Barry and Bart and it seems to be enough to let Beetles' scarab say that it is going to work, but at a cost. As hard as he tries, Wally can't keep up with Bart and Barry(as has been established before), and the result is that the kinetic energy is hitting Wally and begins to phase out of existence. Barry tries to tell Bart to slow down so that some of the energy hits them so that Wally isn't taking all of it, by then it is too late.

Before it finishes, Wally, knowing he is about to die, goes out the only way he could; with a joke and heartfelt goodbye. Wally says that Artemis is going to kill him for this and says, "Just tell them, okay.", and after that he vanishes as Barry tries to reach out to him. Barry looks at Bart in disbelief.

When the kinetic energy has stopped, the team rallies to Barry and Bart to congratulate, but they are cut short when Artemis asks, "Where's Wally?". Barry, knowing what Wally would want to say, putting both hands on Artemis' shoulders. When Artemis asks the question, the facial expression already tells that she knows what happened, but it's not until Barry says, "He wanted me to tell you.." that it all starts to sink in and she starts to tear up before Barry even says, "..he loved you".

At this point Artemis is completely broken and falls to her knees with Me'gan right there to comfort her. Now who knows what would have happened if Artemis did not have the support from her family in the team. All of the planning she and Wally made vanish in an instant. Having the only person who has given her support and reason for years and if not there would've gone to criminal life or at least stayed with Manta and his crew. Maybe it could've been that it would've been a bit of a struggle to adjust to civilian life again with those lines of, "There will always be a world to save.", but with Wally there Artemis could've had an easier time adjust or decide to settle down for some time.

A few hours go by, and as most of the time goes to welcome the League back, Artemis goes to Wally's parents home. All we see is Wally's parents open the door, Artemis can't even get the words out before she breaks into tears and Wally's parents immediately know and comfort her.

Just a few words before we go to the final part of this trilogy and end of this blog until all of season 3 has premiered. How many animated series(in the U.S.) are there that not only have death, but a main character? Not that many that I have seen. Even with several live-action dramas, I still rate this as high or higher than everything that I have seen from those. Just for context, these are just a few of the shows I've seen: Lost, West Wing, Glee, Merlin, Arrow, Sherlock. Take that with the fact that even those shows it's usually a choice because the actors want to leave, not for story or character purposes(with the exceptions of West Wing and Glee in which the actors themselves died). This death will always be a standout in television history; to me.

Thanks for reading guys and I will be back in a couple days for the finale of Artemis' journey. I will also announce the next character journey to begin after a short break.
