"Whatever her Past, This has Earned her Place with Us."

Hello everyone. Sorry for the lack of content last week, but for personal reasons I needed a break for a week. This one, unfortunately, will be a short one. In part due to the fact that it's Mother's Day and I just haven't had the time I usually do for these, but I also wanted to save up for next time as the next issue I will be covering is Rogue centered and will likely be the start of a three-part blog. With the house cleaning out of the way, let's dive into Uncanny X-Men #179.

So we first see Rogue in a morgue, standing beside Logan and Ororo. They are there to identify a body, which turns out to be Kitty. Now the choices mostly make sense. Ororo and Logan know her better than the rest of the team, and Logan has his senses which come into play here, but Rogue.. I guess she just came along because she was with them at the time or maybe because it's like a new recruit in a job; bring the rookie along so they get as much experience as needed. It also maybe because Logan is one of the few people on the team who give Rogue the time of day.

The body is uncovered and the appearance looks like Kitty and Ororo nearly identifies her before Logan asks the Doctor to leave for five minutes to tell the rest of the team that it's not her because she doesn't have the same scent. Rogue asks why? Ororo responds with the fact that whoever did it knew the team and their loyalty enough to know they may have gone to war with the Brotherhood thinking they did it, just to throw them off, all the while keeping her prisoner or worse.

After a time where we see Kitty going through her ordeal to marry Caliban so that the Morlock 'Healer' can cure him of a condition during a battle. Ororo doesn't wait to shoot a great gust of wind at Calisto, not for kidnapping Kitty alone, but also because some innocent died for her façade to work. This is done right after she tells Logan to wait. Rogue grabs Logan and tries to help but is depowered because of Caliban's effect that shuts off the X-gene while in close proximity.

The scuffle doesn't last very long before Kitty explains why she's doing this and asks both sides to stop. The reason Rogue is there is explained in this situation(still no reason for the hospital outside of the theories given above), hoping that if she absorbs Peter's power and revert him to human form so the Healer can cure him.

Rogue is hesitant because she has avoided touching people with physical differences like Angel and Nightcrawler because she doesn't know what the effects would be, and she likes the way she looks. Xavier consoles her that he will be with her every step of the way and help in all ways possible. While appreciative, she still, rightfully, wonders if she looks like Peter in that motionless form or the way looks regularly, but is unable to complete the thought before the transformation begins.

As Peter is being healed by the Morlock, Rogue finally gets the approval of Ororo. Being the hardest sell since she joined the team, Rogue is officially a part of the team in the terms of a family bond. No longer just teammates that she doesn't want to spend time with in free-time, but willing to do anything for her regardless of what happened in the past. This is at least the second time that Rogue has been in fatal situations in place of another, but at long last the bond is finally forged across the board.

That's all for this one guys. Like I said, fairly short one, but next time will be worth It as it is another issue focused mostly on Rogue, and the first time that it's not about earning her spot on the team. I'll be back with Uncanny X-Men #182. Thanks for reading.
